Getting Started Tips for Your Direct Sales Business
So, you just joined a direct sales company, now what? Here are 3 getting started tips for your direct sales business that you can do immediately after you join that will help you get going in the right direction.
Check out your Consultant Portal or Back Office
The first thing you should do is take time looking around your back office or consultant portal. Take the time to familiarize yourself with what is going on back there. You can’t screw anything up, trust me! It’s not going to explode if you click on something and you are unsure what it means. Most companies offer free training and probably have videos showing you around. You will save yourself A TON of time and headache if you take a little bit of time to learn the ropes in there. Remember, your sponsor is also working her business and probably running a team so you don’t want to keep bugging them with things you can find on your own. Take the initiative and discover all your back office can do for you!
The second thing you should do is NOT get all spammy and salesy, yes those are words, on your social media profiles! People HATE that, for real! You may think you are just sharing with your close friends and family BUT you’re not. PLUS places like Facebook are not made for selling from personal profiles, so you could jeopardize your account if you get reported. What you should do is make a list of F.R.A.N.K.S which are: Friends, Relatives, Acquaintances, Neighbors, Kids connections, and Service Organizations. Those are the people you should be announcing your business too. Consider a formal letter or postcard that you can share a bit of your business info, photos of products and a way to contact you should they be interested in shopping with you or using your services. Something you can easily hand out that isn’t bulky to carry should you find yourself in a conversation while you are out. Don’t be afraid to share your business! It was important enough for you to join, don’t be afraid to talk about it with people! Always be relate-able and authentically you.
Launch Party Time
Third, check your calendar and get your launch party scheduled. Your launch party should be not long after you join. Especially if your company has a quick start program that will earn you extras for completing it. A launch party is HUGE and it gives you the chance to showcase your products for your friends and family. If you are selling a tangible product, make sure your kit will be there in time. If you have the money, buy some more products not included in your kit OR share your personal favorites which made you decide to join in the first place! People really enjoy being able to see and feel products in person. Hosting an online launch via Facebook probably will not yield as much interest. If you are selling a service, still host a launch. Serve light snacks and drinks and prepare a presentation, but not too long, that will get boring and you will lose attention. Keep it light and fun and don’t be nervous!! You won’t die, promise!
Something to always remember: Network, network, network! As you make your way through your regularly scheduled programming, also known as life, keep your networking feelers out there at all times. You truly never know who will be interested if you don’t give people the opportunity to say no. Remember why you joined the company you are with. What is your “why”? If you love it, you will freely talk about it and not feel as tho you are being pushy. If you are on Facebook, the BEST place to learn the tips and tricks of the trade is in The Socialite Suite.
